Somalia is the latest country in which Castor Vali has incorporated as a legal entity, consolidating our position as a leading security and risk management group throughout the African continent. This is a milestone moment in the growth of the Castor Vali Group, as Somalia is the 10th company to be incorporated within the group since we began 10 years ago.

Castor Vali’s countries of incorporation now include: UK, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Africa, Ghana, Mauritius, Mozambique and of course Somalia.

Somalia – A Challenging but Potentially Rewarding Environment

After more than 30 years of conflict, Somalia remains a very challenging environment in which to do business. Political tensions make the ongoing fight against al-Shabaab fragmented and inconsistent, and this has only been heightened by successive failures to hold elections. Despite the challenges, signs are that Somalia’s economic health is improving. The country has been praised by international financial institutions for its economic reforms and there is much evidence of inward investment, growth in housing developments and people returning to resettle in Somalia.

In August 2020 the decision was taken by the Somali Government to initiate an offshore oil licensing round – the first in the country’s history. This signalled the potential resurrection of its once-promising oil and gas industry. As businesses take up the opportunities in Somalia in the oil and gas sector, among others, the need for accredited and trustworthy local security service providers with international knowledge, experience and service delivery standards becomes more paramount. Beyond the energy sector, Castor Vali has also supported multi-national organisations with capacity-building projects which help to sustain and grow national infrastructure within the country.
