In March, Lawrence Clinton (Clint), Chief Operating Officer at Castor Vali, will undertake a demanding endurance challenge in Norway, retracing the route of one of the most significant special operations of the Second World War.
The Heroes of Telemark – a Defining Moment in History
In 1943, a small group of Norwegian commandos crossed the Hardangervidda plateau in arctic conditions on skis as part of a covert mission; they later became known as the Heroes of Telemark. Through exceptional determination and personal sacrifice, they successfully sabotaged Nazi Germany’s heavy water programme, preventing the development of an atomic weapon and altering the course of history.
A Modern Expedition Across the Mountains of Norway
More than eighty years later, Clint will follow that same route across the mountains of Norway. Over seven days, he will complete a 125-mile ski expedition, honouring the legacy of the Heroes of Telemark while raising funds for two military charities that provide vital support to those who serve.
Supporting Those Who Serve and Their Families
The expedition is being undertaken in support of CS22 (Cockleshell 22) Veteran Expeditions CIC and Rock2Recovery. Cockleshell 22 organises challenging expeditions that support the wellbeing, recovery, and reintegration of military personnel following service. Rock to Recovery provides essential mental health support to serving personnel, veterans, blue light workers, and their families.
Castor Vali’s Commitment to the Cause
Castor Vali is covering 100 percent of the expedition costs. This ensures that every additional pound raised goes directly to the two charities, maximising the impact of each donation.
We are fully behind Clint in this challenge and proud to support both his commitment and the causes he is championing.
Why This Matters
At Castor Vali, our work is grounded in resilience, sound judgement, and a strong sense of responsibility towards people operating in complex and high-risk environments. Clint’s expedition reflects these same principles.
This challenge combines physical endurance with respect for history and a clear sense of purpose. It recognises the importance of learning from those who came before us, while actively supporting the long-term wellbeing of those who serve today. It is not simply an endurance event, but a considered effort to raise awareness and direct support for organisations making a tangible difference to individuals and families.
