Castor Vali has been granted Certified Membership of the International Code of Conduct Association (ICoCA), recognising our commitment to implementing the human rights and humanitarian principles and standards set out in the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers.
What is ICoCA?
ICoCA is a multi-stakeholder initiative established to promote the responsible provision of private security services. It oversees the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers, which sets out principles and standards based on human rights and international humanitarian law, with particular relevance to security operations in complex environments.
Certified Membership represents ICoCA’s highest level of membership and requires companies to demonstrate their commitment to implementing the Code through independent certification, ICoCA review and ongoing monitoring. This includes:
- External certification to an ICoCA-recognised standard by an independent accredited certification body.
- Additional scrutiny of company policies and procedures by ICoCA.
- Verification against human rights and international humanitarian law principles.
- Regular self-assessment, reporting and ongoing monitoring.
- A commitment to continual improvement through guidance and training.
What does this mean for our clients?
For clients procuring security services, particularly in complex environments, effective due diligence is critical. ICoCA Certified Membership provides an independent benchmark when assessing:
- How security services are governed and managed.
- The policies and procedures underpinning service delivery.
- Commitment to human rights and international humanitarian law.
The conduct of a security provider can also form part of a client’s own human rights risk and responsibilities. Working with an ICoCA Certified Member provides additional assurance that these considerations are embedded within the policies, procedures and practices governing the delivery of security services.
Lawrence Clinton, Chief Operating Officer at Castor Vali, explains:
“Achieving ICoCA Certified Membership is an important milestone for Castor Vali and reflects the considerable work undertaken across the business to maintain responsible and professionally governed security operations.
Our clients need to know that the security providers they work with operate to robust and internationally recognised standards, particularly in complex environments. ICoCA Certified Membership provides an additional independent benchmark against which they can assess us. Importantly, membership also requires ongoing monitoring and continual improvement, so this isn’t simply about achieving a standard; it’s about continuing to demonstrate our commitment to the Code in practice.”
ICoCA Certified Membership further strengthens Castor Vali’s established governance and compliance framework and reinforces our commitment to responsible security provision, respect for human rights and continual improvement across our operations.
