Gearing up for Rhino Charge

Rhino Charge

Only four months to go until Rhino Charge 2020, due to be held on the 31st May 2020.  Preparations start early and Steve Grant, Group Managing Director, is already heavily involved in the preparations.

The Rhino Charge is an annual off-road 4×4 competition held in Kenya in which entrants are required to visit 13 points (guard posts) scattered over approximately 100 km² of rough terrain within a 10 hour period.  Funds raised from the event support the activities of the Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, who work towards the conservation and protection of Kenya’s mountain range ecosystems.

Castor Vali Ltd is a proud sponsor of the rhino charge and has been involved with the event since 2014.

Steve sits on the Rhino Charge Main Committee, who oversee the organisation of the Rhino Charge.  Each member of the committee offers his or her time, expertise and resources to ensure that the event is run successfully and to the highest standards.

Castor Vali’ sponsors Steve’s time to participate in the committee and provide his expertise to help secure the event and protect participants and spectators alike, bringing to bear all of Castor Vali’s experience of working in hard to reach and inhospitable environments.  Steve’s remit includes:

  • Providing all security advice, planning and liaison with police, KWS and other private security
  • Producing a security risk assessment which Rhino Charge organisers use to demonstrate that all security considerations have been taken into account
  • Provision of satellite phones to aid communication.
