Operations Manager – Castor Vali Africa (Nairobi, Kenya)

Castor Vali Africa (CVA) is the East African regional Headquarters for the Castor Vali Group, monitoring all East African operations at our 24 hr Joint Operations Centre in Nairobi with an effective mix of local personnel and expat advisors. CVA are recruiting for an additional Operations Manager.

Job Description
The Operations Manager is a key member of the management team responsible for planning, direction and coordination of CVA’s operations. You will be responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. You will manage a team of operational staff and report directly to the Senior Operations Manager and Regional Director.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper usage and safe custody of departmental or company property.
  • Provide direct customer liaison and facilitate client meetings.
  • Manage projects and make sure they meet company standards and client expectations.
  • Visit the sites of operation and make appropriate observations and brief senior managers.
  • Prepare the Departmental Budget and control expenditures.
  • Develop strategies to sustain contracts and encourage new business.
  • Meet personal targets and develop performance targets for subordinates.
  • Establish, implement and review procedures, protocol and standards of performance.
  • Conduct and or initiate security surveys/audits exercises on all assignments.
  • Liaise with Business Development manager to pass on potential client leads.
  • Participate in the development of company policies, strategies and business plans.
  • Produce operational intelligence reports and disseminate information to relevant parties.
  • Plan, direct and control all operational activities within designated area.
  • Advise all CV personnel on operational matters within your area of responsibility.
  • Foster mutual interest and encourage teamwork within the department.
  • Appraise staff performance and assist with training and staff development.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies:

  • Degree in Business Management / Risk Management / Criminology or a related field from a recognised university;
  • At least 10 years working experience in the security industry five of which MUST be in private security in a management position;
  • Advanced professional training in security, uniformed services and/or in the military forces; and,
  • Member of a recognised Private Security Association.

  • Industry recognised psychological assessment (e.g. March on Stress)
  • STCW95 / STCW10
  • ENG1
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or equivalent for non-UK residents)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Maritime Security Operators (MSO) Course

Additional requirements for offshore maritime security personnel:

  • BOSIET – not mandatory but highly desirable

Land-based security personnel:

  • FPOS(i) or equivalent – must include trauma element
  • Industry recognised psychological assessment (e.g. March on Stress)
  • Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or equivalent for non-UK residents)
